Starr Insurance Companies is pleased to announce that Michael Ponder has joined as the Branch Manager leading its newly-opened Nashville office. He will be responsible for strategic growth, financial performance as well as broker and client relationships within Tennessee.

Mike joins Starr with more than 14 years of experience with several major insurance companies. His expertise includes multi-lines commercial underwriting in areas of manufacturing, retail, wholesale, hospitality, religious & educational institutions, construction, risk management consulting, performance based marketing and production results.

“Mike brings a wealth of underwriting & marketing experience for igniting our field objectives in Nashville,” said Robert Cruz, Director of Field Operations. “His ongoing commitment to Tennessee brokers will provide the catalyst for establishing a strong team environment with outstanding growth in this territory.”

Mike is a graduate of Tennessee State University where he attended on an Airforce ROTC scholarship. He served more than 14 years in the Airforce with a tour in Iraq and finished his service at the rank of Major.
